Movie Review Prep

1. I would expect to see Captain Philips, some of the more important crew members, and the Somalian Pirates.
2. I expect the plot to be about Captain Philips a little before the pirates take over the ship. Then the four pirates take over the ship. Then they destroy the boat the pirates were on. The crew members then take hostage of one of the pirates and try to escape. They tried to exchange the pirate for Captain Philips, but the pirates took Philips. Then people came to get Captain Philips. The three pirates who captured Captain Philips are then shot down and then Captain Philips gets saved.
3. This Story is so important because it lead to the decrease of Somalian pirate attacks.
4. The pirates tried to take the ship because it had Cargo on it.

4. I could still images to show the passage of time or what to do for cooking.
5. Some audio I could use is music that I listen that fits into what is going on. Also me narrating what is happening.

Movie Reviews

The Favourite is a sharp-tongued costume drama with a delirious, disorienting edge1. A.V. Club
2. Katie Rife
3.7/10
4. Acting, cinemotography, story.
5. Looses interest in the second act.
6. "A frothy comedy would be a sucker punch in its own right coming immediately after The Killing Of A Sacred Deer (2017) Lanthimos’ bone-chilling domestic thriller. The Favourite is more than that. It’s got the venomous insults, the nimble comebacks, the backstabbing, the sex, the costumes, the sets, and everything else you could ever want from a viciously witty period piece. But this deliciously nasty riff on the Jane Austen tradition also has an absurdist streak that, along with its aggressively stylized camerawork, provides an unpredictable high-wire thrill all its own."

Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma is a beautiful if incomplete tribute to the women who raise us
1. A.V. Club
2. Danett Chavez
3. I would give this review a 6/10.
4. Cinematography, Acting.
5.Story.
6."The result is a little too rose-tinted an homage, but Roma is still an exceptionally moving story, as well as another technical feat from Cuarón. There’s no indication that taking over for Lubezki put any undue strain on him—the impressive long takes are here, revealing all kinds of life (and danger) in the center of Mexico City and the neighboring small towns. They’re complemented by lateral pans that occasionally spin out, only to return to the calm center provided by Cleo, whose inspiration must have offered the same kind of consistency for Cuarón, a child of divorce. His gratitude is obvious, the camera fairly doting on Cleo as she moves through the comfortably cluttered apartment in Colonia Roma, the upper-middle-class neighborhood in the Mexican capital where Cuarón spent his childhood, and which lends the movie its title."

Sports Current Event

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/11/sports/toronto-raptors-brooklyn-nets.html

The headline of the article is "Toronto’s Kawhi Leonard Banks Home Game-Winner Against Nets."
The Toronto Raptor won against the Nets with the final score being 127-125. Some sports jargon in the article is 3 pointers, baskets, and home meetings. Adjectives are N/A. The article is a recap because it goes over a game that happened recently. The article goes over the names of the players by listing the names of the people on the team and saying how many baskets they made.

My Favorite Cover

Inspiring magazine covers It’s hard not to be attracted to this cover of Surf featuring a young boy poking his tongue out at the camera. It is, in the words of Wedge & Lever, “sophistication that does not take itself too seriously.”

The photo is in black and white, making it look very unique and stand out more . The kid is sticking his tongue out, showing that it isn't taking itself very seriously. The picture is well framed with the kid drawing attention. The picture is also very clear and not out of focus and blurry. The kid is clearly having fun in the picture, which adds to it appeal. Since the magazine appears to be about surfing and locations related to it, the picture shows that in a way that is charming and silly.

Best Magazine covers 2015

Inspiring magazine covers Avoid eye contact. To create the same effect I don't look at the camera.
Inspiring magazine covers Use a cheeky photo. To create the same effect I do a silly photo.
Inspiring magazine covers Experiment with depth of field. I would use a different depth of field to create this effect.

Magazine Tips

  1.  Image appeal
  2.  Raise the curiosity of the reader
  3.   Not to judge the cover on the screen
  4.  Don't mess with the cover if the background is the most interesting part of it
  5.  Try to enlarge certain colors if there is a blank background

Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO

These two apples were photographed with the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM | A lens zoomed to 35mm with an F2.8 aperture for shallow depth of field. Notice how just a sliver of the leaf and near apple is on the focal plane. The front apple is about a foot from the lens, with the farther apple nine inches behind. The back wall with the very soft shadow is ten feet from the camera. 1/40 F2.8 ISO 400, continuous lighting. F2.8

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

A:One of the main points regarding photo manipulation is that it is unethical to change photos. Another point is that as long as it doesn't change the photo's intent it's fine.
B: The philosophy of newspapers like the Washington Post is that they have strict guidelines on manipulating photos.
C: I think an acceptable way to manipulate a picture is if it's touching up the photo to make it look more of the intent. However if the picture is about a person you shouldn't change the way they look. Also if the picture is manipulated too much that is unethical for at least newspapers or articles.
D:mccaughey12I think this is a really unethical picture is because they changed it to make the girl more attractive. I think that's an awful thing to do because it shows that the person isn't important and it's how they look to the reader.
E:vanityfair This picture isn't as unethical because it just combines the pictures of both people. This doesn't alter the people in the photo and isn't unethical to them.

Composition 9/11 Discussion and Post Shoot Reflection

 Lines
The lines of the tower is vertical to the person falling, drawing attention to the person.
Simplicity
A person is falling in the picture with not much of a background other than the lines of the building. The picture is simple, yet shows a the desperation people had during 9/11.
Rule of Thirds
The towers match up the the invisible lines called the rule of thirds. This draws attention to the towers.
Balance
This picture shows balance because the falling debris doesn't leave much empty space.
Framing
This photo is framed in a way to show the part of the building that is collapsing which shows lots of depth to the image.
Avoiding Mergers
The people in the photo don't merge together to make the image look weird or distracting.

Symmetry and Patterns (repetition)

The towers are symmetrical to each other. The big difference is the explosion on the left tower.
 Viewpoint
The photo is from a low angle. This shows how tall the buildings are.
On the RunDepth
This image has a lot of depth because there are people in the foreground  with buildings and smoke in the background.
Trees of Leather
Cropping
The image is cropped to bring attention to the shoes on the tree.

Welcome Back 2019

I like this photo cause you see one guy who isn't wearing a shirt and the others are in freezing temperatures.

The photo is very appealing with the fish swimming in the water.

The photo is very terrifying as you see the lava flowing out of the volcano.

My favorite song of 2018 is "Lightning Strike" on the album Firepower. The reasons its my favorite song of 2018 are the guitar work, fun and intense lyrics, and great singing. Also as a big fan of Judas Priest, this surprised me because they haven't done a song this since the 90's.

My favorite movie of 2018 is "Won't You be my Neighbor?". The reason is because it shows the person that Mr Rodgers was and what he believed in. Also it was the only movie that made me tear up this year.

The most important news story is the policy of Trump's policy of family separation at the border. This caused lots of immigrants who lived in the U.S. to go back without their families.

The most important person of 2018 in my opinion is Robert Mueller. The former FBI director has investigated Russian meddling in the 2016 election. His investigation led to more than 191 criminal charges against 32 people and three companies.

The biggest entertainment story of 2018 is the MeToo movement. Many big people in the entertainment industry were convicted of sexual assault in 2018 because of the MeToo movement. This movement was humongous in 2018 as many people told their stories of what happened to them.
